Traffic Snarl on Oshodi- Apapa Expressway

Seriously, I do not know what the government is doing about these tanker vehicles that take up a large portion of the road and even block other major access roads; neither do I know how many years it will take Julius Berger to rehabilitate the road. The traffic madness on that road is becoming unbearable and frustrating every day. On February 21, many of my colleagues who closed for 5pm did not get home until well past midnight!!!!!

Something really needs to be done!

Tuface Idibia Opens Multi-million Naira Boutique for Fiancee

Love is in the air! Barely 10 days after proposing marriage to Annie Maculay, Tuface Idibia is said to have concluded plans to open a one-stop boutique for his heartthrob. The shop, named Forever Young, is located at the highbrow Ikota Shopping Complex. The boutique will be declared open in March, 2012.

There is also the gist that the ‘Father of all Nations’ has extended an olive branch to his other baby mamas in the form of cash and landed property.

Toni Payne Pregnant for 9ice?

With the rumour mill agog with Toni Payne’s pregnancy and 9ice’s involvement, The Gongo Aso crooner has denied the ownership of Toni’s pregnancy- if she’s really pregnant.

9ice took to twitter to debunk the rumour; and in his usual ‘say nothing, do thing’ style of answering questions, he was as brief as possible: “I shake my head in disbelief. I am sure my true fans won’t believe such news. I wish you all the best. Thank you for your support. God bless.”

9ice and Toni’s marriage lasted barely 2 years, and it produced a son named Zion.

Much Ado About D’Banj’s Patriotism

Recently, the self-styled Kokomaster, D’Banj, has been heavily criticized for supporting President Jonathans’s administration and refusing to participate in the fuel subsidy protest. As if that’s not enough, he has come under fire for his ‘insensitive’ comments about Nigeria’s situation, in a recent interview he granted in the U.S.

As much as I admit that his comments were careless, I still don’t see any reason for the name-calling and insults he has been receiving from fans. D’Banj is a businessman who hustles for his daily bread like every other Nigerian. Singing the praises of someone doesn’t automatically mean you love the person. If he has chosen to be nonchalant about the situation in his country, let him be. As far as I’m concerned, music is his business and the best way to ruin the business is for him to disrespect his fans.

As long as he has not done that, I don’t think he should be blamed for Nigeria’s problems.
But then, this is just my opinion. Lolz.

Mosun Finally Marries

Mosun Filani, one of the most popular faces in the Yoruba genre of Nollywood movies, is married.

The actress, who was rumoured to have been the subject of a  feud between Muyiwa Ademola and Odunlade Adekola, got married to Kayode Oduoye at a quiet ceremony in Ibadan. The event took place on Sunday, February 19.

Happy married life, Mosun, and stay away from controversies.

BBA Couple, Meryl and Mwisho Welcome Baby Girl

The popular Africa’s favourite TV show Big Brother Africa has not only become a very big entertainment for its teeming viewers but the annual TV reality show has become the most viewed in Africa.
The last 3 editions have been the most interesting as they recorded series of interesting love stories. The duo of Namibian housemates Meryl and Mwisho shocked Africa with their engagement on the Big Brother Africa All-Stars reality show and news coming out of Namibia has it that the union is now blessed with a baby girl. They welcomed the baby last week Monday.
It appears the Big Brother Africa family is growing as they join fellow Big Brother hubby and wife,Kevin and Elizabeth who also welcomed their baby girl last year.
Also,Quinn Sieber from South Africa and Jennifer Mussanhaneare 24,from Mozambique are not only dating,the 2 former housemates are expecting their first child.

He’s not called King of Comedy for nothing. Ace comedian,  Alli Baba, has unveiled his palatial mansion. The exquisite edifice is located in Nicon Town, Lekki. Built from scratch, the haven is a duplex of three sitting rooms, seven bedrooms with a swimming pool sized Jacuzzi in the master bedroom and a floor to ceiling sized cinema for the viewing pleasure of the family and friends of the lover of high end breed of dogs.

Dr. Frabz  Loses Mum

Top Nigeria music producer, Ayo Faboro, who is well known as Dr Frabz is presently bereaved. 
The music producer, who was formerly romantically linked with singer, Omawumi, lost his mum on Thursday, February 16, 2012.
Dr Frabz tweeted today about his mother's death on twitter; she was 53 years old.

Lemar is Alive

Earlier today, the rumour mill was agog with news of UK-based Nigerian RnB singer, Lemar Obika’s death. But Lemar, in a strong show that the naija blood still flows in his veins, quickly debunked the rumour.
According to the singer in a tweet to wash away his death news, "I am alive... Or, if I'm dead and this is what the other side is like then, well, it is a LOT like earth and GUYS, they've got twitter."
Lemar came into limelight in mid-2000. One of his popular songs is 50 50. Meanwhile, some have been calling for the shutdown of the media that started this rumour, especially because of other fake celebrity news it has carried in the past.

Work for Yourself

In the last 10 days, a lot of bankers have become jobless as a result of the post-acquisition exercise - and it has really got me thinking. Many families have suddenly been deprived of their daily bread, and I can bet that criminality will be on the increase. Expectedly, many of the victims of the banks' axe are still struggling to come to terms with reality; but I am also very sure that some of them must have laughed off the incident and moved on. Well, if you find the second part of my statement difficult to believe, I don't blame you. I didn't believe it too until I saw it happen.

A few years ago, some of my colleagues were sacked,and emotions really ran wild. For days, the office was like a ghost town as we fervently prayed for the 'unfortunate' ones. Today, many of them are doing better than we can ever imagine. Of particular note is my Team Lead who was affected back then. A week after receiving her letter, she left for the UK on vacation and I personally thought she wasn't normal. I felt going to the UK was not the best way for her to spend the 'little change' she had. She came back a few weeks later and began her business, and today, she is a Big Madam by every standard.

A colleague of mine was sacked as a level 1 staff. Less than 2 years later, he came to the office with a request to purchase one of our services for commercial use- and he came in a brand new Infiniti jeep!

Most times, the fear of the unknown keeps us tied to a spot for years, preventing us from exploring our potentials to the fullest. Our generation is perhaps the most self-reliant and focused generation this country has ever produced. There's hardly any member of this generation who is not business-minded; and I cannot count the number of people who already own at least a plot of land- that's a feat our parents took years to achieve! Our universities keep churning out 'kids' as Masters' degree holders, most of us are already aware that we can not become billionaires by working for others, and are seriously making plans to be on our own.

But in all these, unexpected issues come up and our plans become disrupted. Still, we are strong enough to get up and move on. We may have lost our jobs at a most unexpected time,but we've not lost our skills. We may be down,but we are certainly not out. What's more, we have the gift of patience and can build a brand from almost nothing. Audu Maikori never imagined that Hakeem Bello-Osagie would one day become the Chairman of his tiny Chocolate City Records; Linda Ikeji didn't know that her blog would give her more fame than her modelling career; Ayo Animashaun has turned Hip Hop World into a brand; and the list is endless.

To those who lost their job, my heart is with you. But then, maybe this is God's way of pushing you to that next level you are so afraid to even think about. Whatever happens, I am sure of seeing you at the top. 

You have worked for others;now is the time to work for yourself.

My Sister is a Year Wiser

Olabisi, my dearest sister-in-law, was a year older on February 16. Even though we couldn't celebrate with her in person, my family rejoiced with her in spirit- and our dinner was an evidence of the celebration. Lolz. We even dedicated our BBM statuses and DPs to her for the whole day. Now, that's a first!!!!!

But then, she deserves a lot more. She's more of a sister to me than anybody else. Congratulations dearie. I'm very sure you had fun yesterday.

Chyka's Convocation

Chyka, my dear friend and sister from a another mother, finally graduated from an A-list Nigerian university! Yes! Chyka bagged her Masters degree from the University of Lagos and although I couldn't attend her convocation, I am sure sure she had loads of fun. 

I wish you the very best, sis. Keep being true to yourself, and never forget my promise to you- no matter the decision you take, I'll be with you all the way. You are one of the few sensible ladies Nigeria can still boast of.

Emmmm..... When are you 'washing' this success for me na?

Our Valentine Cakes

Valentine's Day may have come and gone but the impression created by our cakes will linger for a very long time. The cake orders were so many that we stopped taking orders as early as February 12; and although it was a very hectic exercise, it was really fun. Cakes were delivered as early as 7am on Valentine's Day, and by 1:08pm, all cakes had been delivered- except one. The owner went to school and I made a surprise delivery to him around 8pm!

It was really an exciting experience, and we cannot thank our esteemed clients enough. We really, truly appreciate you all. Here are photos of some of the cakes. We were too tired to take photos! Lolz.

Balkis Weds Abdulwahab

I was in Ogbomosho, Oyo state over the weekend to witness the beginning of an anticipated marital bliss between Balkis Yetunde Ataranga and Abdulwahab Jimoh. Abdulwahab is a very jovial but serious minded colleague,and I couldn't imagine missing his wedding. Coincidentally, my company- Creamy Delight Cakes- handled the engagement and wedding cakes,and as expected,our efforts made the event even more colourful.

Abdulwahab and Balkis proved to be very good host, as guests were treated to more-than-sufficient food and drinks. Even though the couple did not select any aso ebi,the wedding souvenirs distributed at the event were a lot better than the ones given out at the ''aso-ebi'' weddings.
